Muggy weather to stay in Odisha, heavy rain forecast on Oct 24!
Maximum day temperatures at different places in Odisha are recorded 1.3 - 3.7 degree Celsius above the normal temperatures that usually prevail during the October days
Bhubaneswar: Despite in the midst of Autumn, Odisha is yet to experience the weather comfort. And the mugginess in the weather looks all set to continue till Diwali.
As per the IMD data, the maximum day temperatures at different places in Odisha are recorded 1.3 – 3.7 degree Celsius above normal temperatures that usually prevail during the October days.
While the maximum day temperature departure of 3.7 degree Celsius over the normal temperature has been observed in South Coastal (Ganjam-Gajapati) region in Odisha, the minimum departure of 1.3-1.5 degree Celsius above the normal has been observed in the north coastal region (Jagatsinghpur, Baleswar etc).
Even, the departure in the minimum temperature observed yesterday in Odisha was in the range of 0.5 – 2..9 degree C. The least departure of 0.4 degree C in minimum temperature was observed in South Coastal districts, and the maximum departure of 2.9 deg C in north interior Odisha (Sundergarh).
Post withdrawal of Monsoon, the cool dry winds from Northwest that used to flow into Odisha played a major role in sucking the humidity level, and thereby used to provide the comfortable weather in mid-October to early November.
However, this time around, a cyclonic circulation has been formed in Arabian sea, and this system is sucking the flowing north west wind towards it. Also, the wind blowing from Bay of Bengal see a drift towards the trough of low over southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast that runs to north Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
For which, the temperature (maximum & minimum) in Odisha is ruling above normal. Moreover, the dew point temperature that is still ruling over 16 deg C are together bringing up this muggy weather.
However, as a result of the prevailing conditions, IMD has also made a forecast of heavy rainfall in Odisha on October 24. Moreover, the good news is the IMD forcast didn’t predict any activities of thunderstorm or lightning from tomorrow.
