Bhubaneswar: The Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) vice-president Manjit Das today brought counter allegations against BJD's Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty while accusing the parliamentarian of mentally harassing and misbehaving with him.

Earlier today, the MP had accused Das, who happens to be his neighbour, and IIC of Purighat police station of misbehaviour.

Das alleged that Anubhav harassed and misbehaved with him as he had earlier told the MP not to park vehicle at his (Das') place. "He (Mohanty) is exaggerating the incident. The way he has written on Twitter about the incident citing me as a criminal is unfortunate. We both represent the same political party. The video that he has shared is an edited one. While I was polite in my words, he was abusive," alleged Das.

Speaking on the incident, Das said that he was trying to pacify two youths of the area who were fighting over some issue when Mohanty reached the spot and started abusing. "He called me a criminal and anti-social. I want him to prove if I have ever been involved in any anti-social activities," said Das.

"The MP's house has no boundary but we have allowed him six feet land for road passage. Besides, he doesn't have a place to park his vehicle and so, he had been parking it at my place for the last several years. But a few months back, things between us changed, after I told him not to park his vehicle as my family members were facing problems," Das added.

Moreover, Das said that he will raise the matter with the party high command if the MP also does so. Meanwhile, a video purportedly showing the MP and Das involved in a heated exchange of words has gone viral.

Earlier today, responding to the allegations levelled by the BJD MP, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh said, “There was an altercation between two people in front of the MP’s residence. The IIC of the concerned police station visited the spot, inquired about the incident and had asked the MP to lodge a formal complaint.”

On police misbehaviour allegations, Singh said, “We have not received any report regarding police misbehaviour. If the MP is levelling allegations, we will inquire into it.”

Later in the evening on Monday, MP Anubhav's PSO filed a written complaint at Purighat Police Station against Manjit alleging verbal abuse & threats.
