The mother and uncle of missing Odia sailor Sarthak Mahapatra will travel to Singapore on Friday in an effort to trace him.
As per sources, Sarthak’s mother, Rashmita Mahapatra, along with his maternal uncle, is set to visit Singapore as the ship on which he was serving is scheduled to dock there on February 15.
After the vessel reaches the Singapore port, the mother and uncle will personally board the ship to search for Sarthak. The entire travel expenses of both family members will be borne by the shipping company. Visa arrangements and other necessary formalities are being facilitated by the governments of India and Singapore.
Sarthak, a Merchant Navy cadet, has been missing for over a week after reportedly disappearing under mysterious circumstances from the vessel in the deep sea near Mauritius. Despite ongoing efforts, there has been no trace of him so far.

The Singapore High Commissioner called us to enquire about the Visa arrangement. We have mailed our documents to them this morning, and the processing is being conducted. The ship will dock in Singapore on February 15. We will try to trace Sarthak on the ship along with a team," said Sarthak’s mother, Rashmita Mahapatra.
