Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon has covered 24 districts in Odisha triggering rains in most parts of the state. The remaining districts will be covered in a couple of days, informed weathermen.

“Rain is likely at most places over north coastal and many places over interior and coastal Odisha in next 24 hours. However, the amount of rainfall will be less over south interior parts of the State during these hours,” informed Director, Regional Meteorological Centre, H R Biswas.

“But rainfall is expected to increase after 24 hours and will occur in most parts of the State. Heavy to very heavy rainfall rain is likely to lash at one or two places north and coastal Odisha,” added the weather official.

Meanwhile, coastal parts of the State including Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswa , Khurda, Puri and Ganjam have been receiving rainfall since morning under the influence of the advancing monsoon.

Besides, the cyclonic circulation over Bihar, West Bengal and north-west Bay of Bengal is also making the condition favourable for the advancement of monsoon in the State.

The IMD in Bhubaneswar had issued a thunderstorm warning for three districts- Puri, Khurda and Ganjam till 9 am today.
