More Cobra hatchlings rescued in Odisha

Cuttack: More and more numbers of cobra hatchlings are being rescued from several parts of the state.

Over 20 cobra hatchlings were rescued from three different locations in Cuttack, Mayurbhanj and Jagatsinghpur districts today.

Acting on reports from locals, snake catchers rescued as many as 12 cobra hatchlings from a shop at Rada village in Udala of Mayurbhanj district while three more were rescued from a prayer room of the Bhagavat Gadi, situated near Kalianti in Salepur area of Cuttack district.

In another case, much to the surprise of one Sindhu Rout and his family members staying at Mangarajpur Paika Sahi under Kujang block in Jagatsinghpur, seven cobra hatchlings were found crawling on their verandah. Out of the seven, three hatchlings were rescued alive while others were found dead by snake rescuers.

More than 150 cobras and dozens of eggs have been recovered in the past one week from several places in Bhadrak and Kendrapara districts.
