Bhubaneswar: Irked over the death of a labourer, workers of Tata plant in Kalinga Nagar of Jajpur district on Friday set the security office on fire. The uncontrollable mob run amok and damaged the main gate of the plant, prompting the company to deploy heavy forces at the site.
The furore erupted after a speeding vehicle run over a labourer from behind inside the plant, leaving him dead on the spot.
The district administration has deployed additional forces to avoid any untoward incident.
In a separate incident, a labourer has been critically injured after he fell into an iron bunker of Bhushan Steel plant in Dhenkanal this morning. The worker, identified as Krushna Chandra Barik of Nayagarh has been shifted to a hospital.
Tension prevailed in the area following the incident.
