Anandapur (Keonjhar): Two cars and five motorbikes were torched including one telephone tower at village Samana near Anandpur following the brutal murder of former sarpanch Baishnav Biswal today morning allegedly due to political enmity. Baishnav was going to his mill in the village when he was suddenly ambushed by armed miscreants. He was followed by his son Jitendra Biswal. Baishnav died on the spot. Political and business rivalry was said to be the reason behind the brutal murder of Baishnav Biswal.

The killing of Baishnav created tension in the entire panchayat. The irate people The irate people torched vehicles and motorbikes parked in the area. Five motorbikes and two cars were damaged in the process. The people also set fire to one telephone tower. Even a few shops and business establishments were destroyed. One woman also sustained injuries. The local police and the fire tenders had to struggle to enter the village as the people blocked their entrance into Samana village. The sub-collector of Anandpur and deputy superintendent of police reached the village to control the situation. The people blocked the Bhadrak-Anandpur road demanding immediate arrest of the miscreants involved in the killing of Baishnav Biswal. Heavy police bandobust has been made to maintain law and order in the panchayat.
