Puri: The body of a minor girl, who was missing since yesterday, was recovered from Devi river in Puri district. The deceased has been identified as Rubina Sethi of Bauriakana village under Kakatpur police limits in the district.

As per reports, Rubina went missing at around 3 PM yesterday. The family members had subsequently lodged a missing complaint at Kakatpur police station.

After a frantic search which continued throughout the night, some locals spotted a body floating in Devi river this morning. Later, the family members identified the body to be that of missing Rubina, who was studying in class VII.

Deceased Rubina's uncle, Pramod Sethi said, “Rubina was constantly in touch with some plumbers from Nayagarh who were residing in our village. We suspect that she might have been murdered by them.”

Her family members alleged that one of the plumbers, Sadashiv Jena had made several calls to Rubina’s mobile phone on the day she went missing.

Basing on the allegations, Kakatpur police have detained Sadashiv who is now being interrogated.

Despite several attempts, senior police officials refused to comment on the incident as investigation was still underway in the case.
