Narangarh (Khurda): Unidentified miscreants reportedly decamped with 10kg of gold and Rs 11 lakh cash after hurling bombs at Odisha Gramya Bank here on Wednesday. At least two bank employees sustained injuries in the incident.

Sources said, some bike-borne miscreants entered the bank at around 11 am, when bank officials were conducting an internal meeting to ascertain the quality and purity of gold kept by depositors.
 
Seeing the robbers, when the bank employees closed the bank’s main door, they hurled bombs to break open the door and opened fire after entering into the office.

According to some eyewitnesses, the miscreants forcibly entered the meeting room and took away all the gold packets kept for examination, and fled the spot.

On being informed, when the police intercepted the bikers, the latter hurled bombs at them near Dadhimachhagadia square.

The amount of cash and gold quantity are yet to be ascertained.

Police are investigating the matter.
