Rourkela: In a daring heists in broad daylight, three bike-borne miscreants looted cash worth Rs 4.25 lakh from a cashier of IDL Explosives Ltd at Tangarapali on the outskirts of the Steel City today.

Reports said Prasanna Kumar Das, cashier of IDL Explosives Ltd, had gone to the State Bank of India (SBI)’s Balijhudi branch with another staff of company to withdraw the cash.

After collecting the cash, he was on the way back to the office in a vehicle when three bike-borne miscreant intercepted him near the Bank’s ATM counter and looted the cash bag from him at gunpoint.

The incident took place at about 1.30 PM.

Das later lodged a complaint with Tangarapali police station.

Talking to media persons, PK Mishra, DSP, Rourkela said the company officials come to this SBI branch three days a week to withdraw cash for payment of wages to the labourers.

“We have begun a manhunt to nab the miscreants and have sealed all entry and exit points in the city,” he added.
