Panic gripped Bhubaneswar after a brutal sword attack rocked the state capital on Saturday, leaving the AIIMS Road soaked in blood.
The incident took place early in the morning when the victim was returning home after watching the Khandagiri Jatra. The injured youth has been identified as Chintu, a resident of the Patrapada area.
According to preliminary reports, the attack has been suspected to be the result of previous enmity.
Following the attack, local residents rushed him to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Chintu sustained deep injuries to multiple parts of his body and is reported to be in critical condition due to excessive blood loss.
Police have launched an investigation and are scanning CCTV footage from the area to gather evidence. The accused have been identified, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend them.
The incident has raised serious concerns over security arrangements during the ongoing Khandagiri Jatra.

Earlier, a sword attack was reported near Big Bazaar in Bhubaneswar, under the jurisdiction of Kharavela Nagar police station, leaving two young men seriously injured.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred during a feast organised by employees of a private company.
The injured youths, who sustained sword wounds, were immediately rushed to Capital Hospital.
