Cuttack: The statements of woman journalist, Sasmita Acharya, who had accused BJD's Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty and his brother of physical assaulting and misbehaving with her, were recorded at the JMFC court in Cuttack today.

Senior Police officials informed that the statements of Acharya have been recorded under section 164 of CrPC.

It is pertinent to mention here that the woman scribe had staged a dharna at Purighat Police Station two days back and alleged that the cops were deliberately not taking any action on her complaint following pressure from the Parliamentarian. Moreover, she had also alleged that her FIR was also twisted by the cops.

Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh, on the other hand, today stated that, “The statements of the woman have been registered before the court. We have also recorded the statements of other witnesses based on the FIR and counter-FIR filed. Technical analysis has been done, CCTV footage is being verified and final form in the case will be submitted.”

“When I had gone to Anubhav Mohanty’s residence on June 12 to complain about his elder brother Anuprash Mohanty, who had been harassing me, the MP misbehaved with me in the presence of his wife Barsha Priyadarshini, who also verbally abused me,” the complainant had earlier alleged in her FIR last month.

However, BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty had refuted the allegations and had termed it as conspiracy against him. “The woman was creating ruckus outside my residence and I had informed police about it. Somebody might be trying to defame us.”
