Dhenkanal: A minor girl from Dhenkanal district was allegedly sold for Rs 50,000 in Goa, informed an official of the District Welfare Committee on Sunday.

The girl, a resident of Damadaranali village under Sadar police limits in the district was handed over to a man a year ago in return of cash, the official added.

Pratap Acharya, Chairman of the CWC, Dhenkanal, said, “Our investigation is over and a letter has been issued to the SP to rescue the girl. We have also recommended for an action against those who are involved in the case.”

The CWC has asked the district police to take all the possible steps to rescue the minor.

Meanwhile, Dhenkanal Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan said that the district police has launched an operation to rescue the minor girl from Goa.

As per reports, the father of the girl is currently lodged in jail for murdering his wife.
