Mayurbhanj: Tension prevailed at the Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College & Hospital in Baripada on Sunday after a minor girl died while undergoing treatment. Alleging negligence in treatment, family members of the deceased girl staged a demonstration by placing her body outside the hospital campus.

As per reports, the minor a native of Chalunia village under Chandua Police limits was admitted at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital on Saturday and died while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

"My niece complained of stomach ache following which we admitted her to the hospital at around 5:30 PM yesterday. The doctor came after 30 minutes and gave her an injection. As her pain did not subside, we again requested the concerned doctor and nurses to check her. However, they did not pay any heed to our request," said Sanjeet Patra, uncle of the deceased girl.

"At around 10:30 PM, the doctor came and gave another injection following which my niece fell asleep. Later, we realised that she is not responding and we immediately called the doctor for check-up. By the time, the doctor came my niece was dead," Patra added.

Following the incident, the family members of the deceased girl lodged a complaint against the doctor and two staff nurses at Baripada police station.

The hospital authorities could not be contacted over the allegations. Meanwhile, police force has been deployed in the hospital premises to avoid any untoward situation.
