Mineral trader seeks more time to depose

Bhubaneswar: Mineral trader Ashok Mohanta has reportedly sought more time to depose before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) which had raided his house and office a few days back in connection with illegal iron ore mining scam in the State.

Mohanta’s counsel today appeared before the ED officials and appealed for extension of his client’s deposition date.

On July 9, the ED sleuths had raided the office and house of Mahanta and Maa Kuanri Transport in which Champua MLA Sanatan Mahakud is a partner.

The agency sleuths had launched simultaneous raids at least at 10 places of the State in connection with its money-laundering probe in illegal iron-ore mining scam in Odisha.

During the raid, the agency officials had searched the records in the office of Sirajuddin Mines, Indrani Pattnaik and Thriveni Earth Movers.
