A massive fire broke out late Sunday night in Jeypore city of Koraput district, triggering panic among residents in the surrounding areas.

The incident occurred at a scrap warehouse located opposite Vikram Dev University. The blaze reportedly started around midnight and spread rapidly across the premises, with flames shooting high into the sky and thick smoke engulfing the vicinity.

According to preliminary reports, highly inflammable materials such as polythene and other scrap items were stored inside the warehouse, causing the fire to intensify quickly. The presence of these materials is believed to have contributed to the scale of the blaze. However, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Local residents first noticed the flames and immediately alerted the fire department. Firefighters rushed to the spot and, with assistance from locals, launched an operation to bring the fire under control. Several fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby establishments.
