Met Issues Thunderstorm, Lightning Alert For Eight Odisha Districts
Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre today issued thunderstorm and lightning alert for eight districts of Odisha.
Moderate thundershower and lightning with one or two spells of heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur and Sundergarh districts between 7:30 AM and 10:30 AM today, said a release issued by the centre.
Residents in these districts have been cautioned to stay alert during the thunderstorm activity.
Yesterday, the centre had forecast light to moderate rainfall for 10 districts-Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Deogarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Koraput.
“As squally wind with speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely to prevail along Odisha coast and adjoining northwest and west central Bay of Bengal, fishermen have also been cautioned against venturing into the sea on Saturday and Sunday” the Met Centre had said.
