Senior BJP leader Dilip Ray’s meeting with Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has once again sparked political speculation, especially ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
The meeting, which lasted for over half an hour, has drawn attention as it is not the first interaction between the two in recent times.
Speaking to the media, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said that he shares a family relationship with Ray and also confirmed that Ray had met his father, former Governor Bishwabhusan Harichandan. However, the exact purpose of the meeting remains undisclosed.
“There was no discussion on any issue. We share a personal relationship, and he had come to visit our family. He also met my father to enquire about his health,” said Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.
The developments come at a crucial time in Odisha politics, with Rajya Sabha elections approaching. As per the current numbers, two Rajya Sabha seats are likely to go to the BJP, one to the BJD, while one seat remains vacant. Political circles are abuzz with speculation that Dilip Ray could be in contention for the vacant seat.
Meanwhile, the BJP has asserted that it is confident of securing the fourth Rajya Sabha seat as well. Though no official confirmation has been made, the recent meetings have intensified discussions over possible candidates and strategies ahead of the elections.
