Cuttack: While the condition of Kendrapara acid attack victim continues to be critical and is a major cause of concern for the treating doctors at SCB medical college and hospital here, Hospital authorities have expanded the Medical Board supervising her treatment.

While five professors were initially taken in the Board, two more experts of gastro-enterology and cardiology were included to oversee the treatment of the victim who has sustained over 45 per cent major burns due to acid attack, hospital sources said today.

"The condition of the victim is critical and remains stable without showing any signs of improvement," said a source in the burn unit of the Hospital after she was shifted here from the surgery department on Monday.

The doctors are apprehending that the victim might develop multi-organ failure in case she suffers from septicaemia (blood infection). Although the burn injuries due to acid attack are superficial, they are more susceptible to infections as well, said a doctor of the Hospital.

The teenaged girl has received injuries in her face, neck, back, waist and legs when a jilted lover last week threw acid on her through the window when she was asleep in her house.
