Konark:The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, and the Mass Education department today evening jointly decided to shift the matriculation (regular) examination for 20 days following theft of question paper on seven subjects in Bhagawati Vidyapeeth at Bajpur under Kakatpur block in Puri district on Tuesday night. The authorities have also cancelled english examination held today.

The Centre Superintendent and three other employees of the Bhagawati Vidyapeeth, including the deputy Centre Superintendent, have been put under suspension in this connection.The Board of Secondary Education(BSE), Odisha, authorities had submitted the report to the government on the incident. The BSE authorities said that examinations for ex-regular and madhyama students would be conducted as per the original schedule.

The miscreants broke open the iron chests kept in the office of the high school head master and looted the question papers on Tuesday night. The miscreants looted packets containing question papers on seven subjects. The matriculation examination had commenced on Monday last with the Modern Indian Language paper. The head master of Bhagwati Vidyapeeth at Bajpur had kept the packets containing question papers of the unfinished subjects confidentially in two separate lockers of the steel almirahs kept in his office.

The police today started investigations into the incident with the help of scientific and forensic team. The miscreants took advantage of the absence of the two night watchmen from duty, it was alleged. Despite the thefts, English examination was conducted today.

Senior officials of the BSE including the President of the board made an on the spot inquiry of the incident and later submitted the report to the government. The incident has sent shock waves among lakhs of students and parents in the entire state.
