Matric evaluation begins

Cuttack:  The evaluation of answer sheets of recently concluded matric examination started at 74 evaluation centres across the State from today.  Around 23,000 teachers have been engaged to examine the sheets, BSE sources said. The work will start at 9.30 am and go on till 5 pm.
“Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure hassle free evaluation which will determine the fate of nearly 6 lakh students. A meeting regarding the matter was convened yesterday”, BSE secretary Ramakrushna Sahu said.
As the block grant teachers have decided to boycott the evaluation process, the BSE authorities directed all district education officers to make alternate arrangements for the job, he added. Meanwhile, the block grant teachers staged dharna in fornt of different evaluation centers.
The board had drawn severe criticism from different quarters last year as evaluators were fond checking the answer sheets in candlelight at a centre and even wet answer sheets were found.
The Mass Education department successfully conducted the test this year with its newly introduced question-cum-answer booklets.
