Dhenkanal: The wildfire that is spreading for last 10 days in Anantpur forests under  Kamakhyanagar block in Dhenkanal district has created fear and dissatisfaction among the residents of nearby villages. The rising temperature is a cause of concern for the villagers while the devastating forest fire continues unabated as the forest department makes no effort to douse the fire.

Hundreds of villagers alleged that the forest department is not taking any step to control the fire in Anantpur forests despite regular complaints. However, forest department officials said that they were taking measures to douse the fire. Anantpur forest is spread over an area of 18,000 hectres. This massive fire is destroying many precious flora and fauna and polluting the environment.
