Bhadrak: Over 50 persons of Bibinagar village were arrested for allegedly ransacking property inside Kasia Marine Police Station in Bhadrak district today. The arrests were made following raids at different places and the number is likely to go up, said Bikash Chandra Das, additional SP of Bhadrak.

The district administration has deployed four platoons of police force in the area to maintain law and order.

Earlier in the day, people of Bibinagar village ransacked Kasia Marine Police Station alleging inaction on part of the cops in connection with a dispute between two families. According to reports, a scuffle ensued between two villages after a newly-wed woman, who had gone to her parent's house at Parapokhari, did not return to her in-law’s house at Bibinagar.

Over 150 villagers of Bibinagar stormed into the Marine Police Station and allegedly ransacked property including computers, furniture and a police vehicle.

Sources said there was a simmering tension between two families of the villages over the love marriage.
