Maoists set ablaze 12 kendu leaf godowns

Bhubaneswar: Maoists burnt down about a dozen kendu leaf godowns in Bolangir district, police said here today. Separate groups of Maoists set ablaze different kendu leaf godowns under Khaprakhol block of Bolangir district last night, Superintedent of Police R Prakash said.

The rebels left pamplets demanding 8-point charter of demands including hike in the price of kendu leaf and proper remmuneration for leaf pluckers, he said. Maoists had also torched a kendu leaf godown in Nuapada district on Saturday, police said.
