Malkangiri: Unleashing fresh violence, Maoists shot dead two persons including a woman suspecting them to be police informers at Bailigumma village under Badapada panchayat of Chitrakonda block's cut-off area on Tuesday night.

The deceased were identified as Laxmi Kar and Sathirao Hentala. Sources said armed Maoists asked the two to come out of their houses before gunning down them brutally.

Meanwhile, Koraput-Srikakulam division of CPI(Maoist) called for a 12-hour bandh in Koraput and Malkangiri districts.

Maoist posters which were put up at different places of Narayanapatna in Koraput district urged the elected representatives to resign from their offices within a month. Otherwise, they would be punished at Praja Court (people's court), the posters warned.

The ultras alleged that the local representatives are supporting deployment of paramilitary forces in the area.

Similarly, the Maoists posters said that both the state and Central governments are responsible for deteriorating law and order situation and increasing atrocities against women.

The district administrations have made tight security arrangements keeping the bandh call in view, added sources.
