Maoists blow up panchayat office in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Maoists have blown up the panchayat office building at Kyang village under Mathili block in Malkangiri district on Monday.

According to sources, around 30 to 40 armed ultras planted explosives beneath the panchayat office on Monday night, which ripped apart the building.

The incident has spread a sense of fear in and around the area.

Notably, the red rebels had abducted 3 persons from Madhupada village of the same block and killed one of them on April 24.

Since last year, the Maoists are targeting panchayat and school buildings in the district on suspicion that security forces will be housed in these buildings during anti-extremists operations.
