Tension gripped Rayagada town on Friday after Maoist posters surfaced once again in the Dumaguda area, close to the urban limits, triggering fresh security concerns in the district. The incident comes less than a week after 15 Naxals laid down arms and joined the mainstream, raising questions about the continued presence and activity of extremist elements in the region.

KBK DIVISION CLAIM OWNERSHIP

According to reports, the posters were put up in the name of KBK Division Maoist State Secretary Megh Jani and Damburu Majhi. The content of the posters makes specific references to Sabyasachi Panda, Azad, Uday, and Nikhil, claiming that they were not tribals.

The banners also reportedly contain warnings directed at industrial establishments and the local administration, indicating an attempt to assert influence and send a message to authorities.

Investigation Launched

The sudden appearance of the posters has caused concern among residents, especially given Rayagada’s history of Maoist activity. Soon after the matter came to light, CRPF personnel rushed to the spot and removed the posters to prevent panic and further escalation.

Despite the development, no official statement has yet been issued by the police regarding the origin of the posters or whether an investigation has been initiated. Security agencies are expected to remain on high alert as authorities assess the situation and monitor any potential resurgence of extremist activity in the area.
