Rourkela: An armed Maoist cadre was today arrested during a combing operation at Roxi reserve forest in Sundargarh district, police said. Security personnel nabbed Mani Purty alias Munda following a tip-off while he was moving along with five to six others Maoist cadres under K Balang police station, about 140 km from here. While Purty could be arrested, others could manage to flee, police said.

During interrogation it was revealed Purty was involved in 11 cases including incidents like killing five persons and a police constable. Purty and other gang members working as armed cadre of the Maoist outfit in Saranda forests, known as Maoist hot bed. They were making plans to create disturbance during the ensuing panchayat polls, police said.
