Koraput: In what could be a major achievement for the police, Pushpa a maoist leader and wife of the arrested top maoist Ghasi, surrendered before the police here on Wednesday.

Addressing the media persons, south-western DIG Soumendra Priyadarshi said that after the arrest of Ghasi, Pushpa’s condition in the Maoists camp was not well and concerned over her growing insecurity, she surrendered.

Pushpa is a resident of Wankawadi village under Eluinpeta police limits of Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. She has been associated with the oraganisation since last six years and was operating Maoist activities in Andhra Pradesh before coming to Odisha. She was involved in the Damanjodi armory loot case, R. Udaygiri attack case, Kalimela firing in 2008 of Odisha and other many bloody attacks in Andhra Pradesh.

Terming the surrender of Pushpa as a major achievement, the DIG said that he is expecting extract more information from her regarding the ultra’s plans.

Soon before her surrender, Pushpa was in charge of the Militia group of Koraput division.
