Many parts in Odisha will record min temp below 10 deg C from tomorrow!

Bhubaneswar: Even as wintry nights are yet to grip the state as a whole, the air, however, will show a nip in some parts of Odisha. The night time temperatures may drop to around 8 degree Celsius there very soon.

As per the US-based National Climate Prediction Centre (NCEP), the night time temperatures in the south interior Odisha (Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal) and districts like Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh in the north interior districts may dip to around 8 -12 deg C.  In the early morning hours, the temperature may see a drop to around 8 deg C at some places in the districts.

As per the forecasts, the nip in the air will  commence from tonight. It further added that rest of the districts in the state, except coastal Ganjam, adjacent Gajapati region, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Balasore, will record minimum temperature of below 20 deg C.

However, the minimum temperatures in the State will see appreciable rise from November 17. The minimum temperatures will then rise to 20 deg C across the regions in the State.

As the dew point temperature from November 13 is forecast at around 8 - 12 deg C in districts like Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj, foggy nights will be a reality there.

The forecasts show wintry nights will not be going to grip the Capital City soon. The mimimum temperature of Bhubaneswar is forecast to dip to around 16-18 deg C by November 16.

As per the IMD data, Angul has been the coldest place today in Odisha with a recorded minimum temperature of 12 deg C, followed by Phulbani (12.5), Titlagarh (12.6), Koraput (13.6), Keonjhar and Bhawanipatna (15 deg C each), Jharsuguda and Sambalpur (16 deg C each).

The minimum temperature recorded in the twin cities stood at 18 deg C for Bhubaneswar and 17.8 deg C in Cuttack.

The IMD data further added that the wind speed in north Odisha is around 20 km/hr.
