Nabarangpur: Altogether 1192 Anganwadi centres do not have their own buildings in Nabarangpur District, official sources said on Sunday. Following a direction from District Collector, Yamini Sarangi a detailed survey on the functioning of Anganwadi centres was made in all the ten blocks of the district.

According to the reports submitted by BDOs, there are 2038 Anganwadi centres in the district. In addition, there are also 169 mini Anganwadi centres. Of the total 2207 centres, 1015 have their own buildings and another 34 centres are running in school buildings. While 870 centres have tube well facilities, 167 centres depend on nearby tube wells to get drinking water.

A detailed report on building and drinking water facility for Anganwadi centres in the district has been sent to the state Government for follow up action, a senior official said.
