In a shocking incident in Mangalpur village, Champua, Kendujhar district, a man allegedly set his father-in-law’s house on fire over a suspected family dispute. The incident has left locals stunned and authorities on high alert.

According to reports, Ankur, the son-in-law of Shiv Nayak, allegedly created a commotion in the house on Tuesday night while under the influence of alcohol. 

As the family was sleeping, Ankur allegedly locked the doors from outside and set the house ablaze, putting the lives of the residents at serious risk.

Alerted by the chaos, neighbours rushed to the scene and managed to break open the doors, rescuing the father-in-law and his wife just in time. The fire brigade arrived promptly and brought the fire under control, preventing further damage.

“We were asleep at night when he locked the gate from outside and set the house on fire. Our neighbours alerted us about the fire, and we immediately called the fire department. With the help of local residents and fire officials, we were able to bring the fire under control,” said Ankur’s wife, Sasmita Nayak.

Authorities have confirmed that Ankur has fled the spot, and a manhunt is underway to trace him. The police are investigating the exact circumstances that led to this horrifying act, even though it is suspected to be a case of a family dispute.
