Jharsuguda: A man allegedly set his widowed daughter-in-law on fire over family dispute at Bhalupatra village under Laikera police limits in Jharsuguda district on Friday.

The matter came to light after the family members of the deceased woman lodged an FIR at Laikera police station.

As per reports, the accused identified as Banamali Rohidas was living with his daughter-in-law after the death of his son last month. However, due to a family dispute, Rohidas allegedly set the woman on fire after pouring kerosene on her yesterday.

Soon after the incident, the family members of the woman rushed her to Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital and also filed an FIR at Laikera police station.

Based on the complaint, police recorded the statement of the victim. Later the woman succumbed to her injuries.

"Further investigation into the incident is underway and we have launched a manhunt to nab the accused father-in-law of the deceased woman. All possible angles is being looked at and as per the probe report, action will be taken," said a police official.
