Malkangiri: Thanks to the efforts of Odisha Red Cross Society, a youth managed to trace his father who was missing for over five years in Malkangiri. It was no less than a dream come true for Sun Sigiyan, who was in search of his father, K Ravichandran who went missing a few years back.

According to reports, K Ravichandran is a resident of Sri Lanka and came to Malkangiri in 1990. Later, he moved to Chennai in search of work in 1993. It was during this period when Ravichandran admitted his son to a missionary school in Chennai.

After staying there for ten years, Ravichandran went back to Sri Lanka in 2014 leaving back his son in the school. However, Ravichandran could not contact his son after he returned to India in 2015. Since then he is staying in Malkangiri.

Ravichandran's happiness knew no boundaries after he saw and spoke to his missing son through video call after several years.

On the other hand, Ravichandran's son Sun Sigiyan had moved to the Netherlands for higher studies. However, he kept searching for his father in Odisha through various means. Finally, he approached the secretary of Odisha Red Cross Society through an e-mail to help trace his father.

Since then, the Red Cross Society was in search for Ravichandran and finally found him in Malkangiri with the help of the volunteers of Malkangiri District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).

"After returning from Sri Lanka, K Ravichandran could not contact his son. On the other hand, Sun Sigiyan was also searching for the whereabouts of his father. After receiving a missing complaint from Sun Sigiyan, a team of DLSA and Red Cross volunteers traced Ravichandran in Malkangiri and brought him to the DLSA office. Subsequently, we contacted Sun Sugiyan through video call and they spoke to each other," informed Secretary of Malkangiri DLSA, Amaresh Nayak.
