Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar over the death of a patient who was allegedly administered an expired injection. The deceased has been identified as Laxmidhar Sahu.

Family members alleged that they had admitted Laxmidhar to a private hospital on October 7. Later, the hospital authorities had put him on ventilator after his condition deteriorated.

However, Laxmidhar died soon after he was administered an expired injection by the hospital staff, alleged family members of the deceased.

“My father’s condition had improved. But he died after the hospital authorities gave him an injection which had expired,” son of the deceased alleged.

Hospital authorities on the other hand claimed that the patient had died of cardiac arrest.

“No expired injection or medicine was administered to the patient. The drugs expiring in a particular month can be administered till the end of the month,” said a senior official of the private hospital.
