Drainage Failure Behind Repeated Flooding

The situation has reportedly become a recurring problem in Malkangiri Sadar subdivision. The drains along the National Highway are reportedly not being cleaned properly, leading to frequent flooding even after moderate rainfall. Whenever heavy rain lashes the area, rainwater fails to drain out effectively, leaving several parts of the subdivision waterlogged and residents stranded.

Daily Life Comes to a Standstill

Locals said that daily life often gets disrupted, with normal activities coming to a standstill for some time due to the waterlogging. The stagnant water on roads has made it difficult for vehicles and pedestrians alike, underscoring the urgent need for improved drainage maintenance in the town.
