Malkangiri Collector sets example by choosing govt hospital for wife’s delivery

Malkangiri: While government hospitals may not be the preferred choice for many when it comes to childbirth, the district collector of Malkangiri has set a big precedent for everyone by preferring to admit his wife for delivery at a government hospital.

According to sources, Malkangiri Collector Manish Agarwal’s wife complained of  labour pain on July 4 following which she was admitted for childbirth at the district headquarters hospital. Later, after a surgery, Agarwal’s wife delivered a baby boy at the hospital.

The collector said that despite the general notion of negligence in healthcare at government hospitals, he had confidence that the delivery could be carried out without any hassles.

“If we assess, we will see definite improvement in the healthcare sector in the State. I had confidence that the delivery will be successful, so I went on with my decision and admitted my wife at the DHH. Fortunately, everything went fine and we also did not have to go to other hospitals,” he said.
