Khurda: A Malaysian cargo ship, which was en route to Visakhapatnam port, reportedly developed a technical glitch after being caught in storm in the Bay of Bengal and landed near Rajhans at Chilika lake on Wednesday night.

As per reports, the ship carrying cargo from Malaysia unloaded its shipment in Bangladesh and was on its way to Visakhapatnam port to pick up new cargo when its machine developed some technical snag.

"When we saw the ship, we rushed to the spot and found around 10-15 crew of the ship. We asked them if they needed any help but they couldn't answer due to language barrier," said a local resident, Satyaban.

While the cargo ship was on its way to Visakhapatnam, it got caught in storm and due to 4-5 feet high waves its toe line got entangled in the propeller resulting in engine malfunction and started drifting, said Captain Gadadhar Mantri, Managing Partner of Azmat Ship Marine Company, Paradip.
