Major fire breaks out at private eye testing centre in Odisha's Jharsuguda

A fire broke out at a private eye testing centre located near Beheramal Chhak in Odisha’s Jharsuguda on Thursday morning, triggering panic in the area. Fire services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. No casualties were reported, as the building was shut at the time of the incident.

According to fire officials, the incident occurred at around 7.30 am. Local residents noticed smoke billowing from the three-storey building and immediately alerted the Fire Department. Fire tenders were rushed to the site, where flames were found spreading within the premises.

Building Housed Multiple Establishments

Reports indicate that the building houses several commercial establishments, including banks, a coaching centre and a private insurance company. Though initially described as an eye hospital, officials later clarified that the premises functioned as an eye testing centre and did not have any admitted patients.

As the fire broke out early in the morning, all offices, including banks, were closed. The entire building was locked at the time, preventing any human presence inside.

Fire Brought Under Control

Fire officials said the blaze was gradually spreading to other parts of the building when fire personnel reached the spot. Around 15 fire service personnel were engaged in the operation to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

Although the fire was brought under control, smoke was still seen emanating from the building at the time of reporting. Fire personnel continued to monitor the site and assess the situation to ensure the blaze was completely extinguished.

Cause And Damage Yet To Be Ascertained

The cause of the fire remained unclear at the time of reporting. Officials said the exact point of origin within the eye testing centre could not be immediately determined. While property damage was reported, the extent of the loss was yet to be assessed.
