Bhubaneswar: The BJP Mahila Morcha activists continued to turn their heat on Minister Pradeep Maharathy and tried to barge into Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik's residence today demanding action against the minister. This led to a scuffle between the Mahila Morcha activists and police, who had a tough time controlling the protestors.

Protesting CM's silence over Maharathy's derogatory 'two husbands' remark against women, many activists of the BJP women wing were heading towards Naveen Niwas when they were intercepted by cops and a scuffle broke out.

Later, the activists were detained by the police.

“Those who make anti-women statements are roaming free outside while those who fight for the rights of women are being prevented from doing so. An emergency-like situation is prevailing in Odisha," rued Samantasinghar.

"Naveen babu hasn't uttered a word against the Minister. We demand the CM to clarify his stance and say if he supports or opposes Maharathy's remark," she added.

On the other hand, BJD spokesperson, Sasmit Patra said that women-related issues are very sensitive and it should not be politicised.

"If the BJP is so much concerned about women-related issues, then it should clarify why recently-conducted international studies have revealed that women have been most unsafe in the last 4 and a half years of the saffron party's reign," stated Patra.

"Why BJP legislators in the party-ruled state of Uttar Pradesh are behind bars for raping women. Why crime against women in states like Rajasthan, Haryana, UP and Gujarat is rising," added Patra.
