Bhubaneswar: In an effort to intensify their agitation, youth wing of the Lower Suktel Action Committee (LSAP) on Wednesday called for a 48-hour Bolangir bandh demanding early start of project construction work.

Though the committee had decided not to disrupt the communication services and business establishments across the district, government offices, schools and colleges were seen closed during the bandh.

“As the government is yet to take a decision, our fast-unto-death strike will continue till a consensus is met,” said Santosh Singh Deo, president of LSAP youth wing.

“Both the state government and district administration are playing with the emotion and trust of Bolangir people for last 13-14 years. Now the government has to take a final call as we no more want to live in negligence. We want adequate compensation for the displaced,” Deo told reporters.

Meanwhile committee president Gopaljee Panigrahi has been admitted to Burla medical in a critical condition as his health deteriorated.
