Low pressure to trigger rain in Odisha from today
Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are to likely experience rain under the impact of a low pressure system over Bay of Bengal, the Regional Meteorological Department predicted today.
As per the latest bulletin, the low pressure system is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours. It is likely to intensify into a depression during the next 48 hours and move towards West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts.
“Several parts of North Odisha will experience rainfall during a period of three days from June 8 with heavy rainfall at isolated places,” the official bulletin read.
Squally winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph is likely to prevail over North Bay of Bengal along and off Odisha coast during June 9 and June 10. As the sea condition is also likely to remain rough, fishermen have also been advised to be cautious while venturing into sea during the next 48 hours. The fishermen have been warned not to venture into sea during June 9 and 10.
Moreover, the regional met office has also issued thunderstorm alert for 12 districts- Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Nayagarh and Puri, till 6 PM today.
