Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.

As per the latest weather bulletin, a low pressure area has formed over west central Bay of Bengal (BoB) and adjoining south west Bay of Bengal which is likely to trigger light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorm and lightning activities in the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Nabarangpur tomorrow.

Apart from thunderstorm activity, heavy to very heavy rainfall (Yellow Warning) is likely to occur in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati between October 23 and 24. Heavy rainfall is also likely in the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur.

IMD has also issued Orange warning for districts of Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Keonjhar as heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to lash these districts between October 24 and 25.

Yellow warning has also been issued for the districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Puri, Khurda and Cuttack as there is possibility of heavy rainfall in these districts of the State.

Ahead of Diwali on October 25 and 26, light to moderate rainfall is likely in several parts of the State while Yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak.
