Heavy rain : (OTV)
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the formation of a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 21. However, the system is likely to spare Odisha from the brunt of the impact, as per the latest predictions from the weather department.
Despite the developing system, the IMD has clarified that Odisha is unlikely to experience significant impact. Residents may, however, witness isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over several districts during the week.
Expected wind speeds could reach 30–40 kmph in districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Rayagada, and Koraput on Monday. Similar conditions may persist in Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati on Tuesday.

According to IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, the system is expected to move west-northwestwards and may intensify into a depression over central parts of south Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal within 48 hours of formation, likely by the morning of October 23.
IMD Tracks System Development
The current weather pattern is influenced by an upper air cyclonic circulation over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, moderate fog occurred at one or two places over the district of Kalahandi and the maximum and minimum temperatures showed no large deviations across the entire state.
Cloudy weather, however, continued to prevail over Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Chandbali, Paradip, Jharsuguda, and Gopalpur, as of this morning.
However, the IMD has stated that fresh weather developments may take shape following October 23 with predictions for a possible heavy rainfall situation starting from October 34.
