Odisha may witness a change in weather conditions as a cyclonic circulation over the Indian Ocean and the adjoining south-east Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area on Sunday.

Under its influence, rainfall activity is predicted across the state for two days beginning Monday, according to the Regional Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar.

Low-Pressure System

The cyclonic circulation, currently active over the Indian Ocean and adjoining south-east Bay of Bengal, is expected to concentrate into a low-pressure area on Sunday.

After its formation, the system is likely to move in a west-northwest direction.

The development of this system is expected to influence weather conditions across Odisha, leading to rainfall activity in several districts.

Yellow Warning For Eight Districts

The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places. 

A yellow warning has been issued for eight districts for tomorrow - Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri.

Wind speeds of 30 to 40 kmph are also likely during the period.

For February 24, a yellow warning has been issued for Jajpur, Cuttack and Mayurbhanj districts.

Dry Conditions Likely Thereafter

After the two-day rainfall activity, the weather in the state is expected to remain dry. The minimum temperature is likely to rise by 2 to 3 degrees in the subsequent days.

The Meteorological Department continues to monitor the system and its movement over the region.
