Sambalpur: People can go to unthinkable lengths to make their love successful which is quite evident in case of a girl who wrote a letter to Maa Samaleswari, the presiding deity of Sambalpur while praying the goddess to help her get married to the man she loves.

The matter came to light after the donation box (hundi) installed at the shrine was opened recently. During counting of the cash, the members of the temple managing committee came across a letter believed to have been written by a girl in which she has sought blessings of the goddess for smooth conduct of her marriage with her boyfriend.

In the letter, the woman devotee has also desperately pleaded before the goddess for a prosperous marital life and removal of any misunderstanding in her relationship with her boyfriend mentioned as Sanjeev.

The members of the temple trust also came across another letter in which a devotee has prayed before the goddess to get back his money stuck in Sahara office.

“If people think the donation box as a medium of their sending prayers to the goddess, we should not take it in a wrong way. It is a matter of emotion as well as devotion,” said Sanjay Babu, president of Samaleswari temple managing committee.
