Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar today issued heavy rainfall alert for several parts of Odisha. Orange warning has been issued for two districts-Sundergarh and Keonjhar.

Duty officer Laxmikant Giri informed that several parts of Odisha received good amount of rainfall in the past 24 hours under the impact of a cyclonic circulation.

“The cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and Odisha, West Bengal coast is likely to develop into a low pressure area today. It will trigger heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours,” said Giri.

As per the latest forecast of Meteorological Centre, light to moderate rainfall (Yellow Warning) is likely to occur in 10 districts-Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Deogarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Koraput.

Squally wind with speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely to prevail along Odisha coast and adjoining northwest and west central Bay of Bengal, the MeT Centre said.

Meanwhile, the fishermen have also been cautioned against venturing into the sea on Saturday and Sunday, as sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough.
