Khurda: Tension prevailed in Khurda today as locals torched a liquor shop protesting the death of a youth in a road mishap. According to reports, the deceased, Jagannath Baral died in a road mishap in front of the liquor shop at around 3.30 PM yesterday. Following the incident, the family members had taken Baral’s body to Bhubaneswar for post mortem.

Alleging that the accident occurred due to the presence of the liquor shop, locals staged demonstration soon after Baral’s body reached the village today. Demanding immediate relocation of the liquor shop and adequate compensation to the kin of the deceased, the locals staged demonstration.

While the demonstration was underway, hundreds of women ransacked the liquor shop and set it on fire.
