Koraput: Tension erupted in Lamtaput of Koraput district over the death of a local man in a road accident on Monday night. The villagers staged a road blockade and forcibly entered the Lamtaput Police outpost today demanding compensation for the victim's family.

According to sources, one Gauranga Khil of Male village died after being run over by a car near Badpada village around 7 kilometres from Lamtaput. The car also hit another car and one bullock was also killed in the accident. After getting information, Police had reached the spot and seized both the cars and shifted the dead to the hospital, sources added.

After the locals came to know about the incident, they staged a road blockade in the morning today demanding compensation for the family of the deceased. The agitated locals also forcibly entered the police outpost while protesting the incident.

"We brought the dead body and have seized the two vehicles. However, the locals were agitated and created ruckus," said Siba Prasad Sadangi, an official at Lamtaput Police outpost.
