Bhubaneswar: Almost after a break of 70-days, normalcy returned to the Odisha television industry, which has been battered by the COVID-19 lockdown. One of the distinguished production houses in the space, Tarang, resumed shooting of its ‘Tara Tarini’ serial today.

After a long break, all the actors, technicians and officials of the production house returned to the shooting sets for the popular tele-serial in Cuttack. Shooting began after the release of a SOP by the Producers Guild of India for resumption of shooting of films and tele-serials.

"Though COVID-19 lockdown restrictions have been relaxed, coronavirus scare still persists. Hence, all the actors, production crew will strictly abide by COVID-19 guidelines and will wear masks, maintain adequate social distancing and use sanitisers frequently at the shooting sets," informed senior officials of Tarang productions.

“All the actors, technicians have been asked to bring their own water bottles and food will be served individually in disposable packets,” said Jatin Nayak, producer of Tara Tarini serial.

Director Basudev Barad said that everybody associated with the industry was affected by the lockdown. “Most of us had lost our livelihood and we are happy that our professional life is back on track,” he added.

Tara Tarini actress Lipi said, “All my fans are desperate and are keen to know when they will be able to watch new episodes. Now we are ready and shooting has begun.”

Child artist Ayesha Samal said, “I am happy to be back on sets for shooting which was closed for lockdown.”

As per the SOP released by the Producers Guild of India, handshakes, hugs, kisses and other physical greetings have been banned. Besides, alternative arrangements have to be made for artistes and other crew members for their transportation by adhering to the social distancing norms.
